I am a beginner skier or
boarder, how do I know what equipment I need?
Andorra is ideal for beginners and all levels and
our hire shops are carefully chosen to ensure staff are helpful and friendly. If
you are a beginner, tell the shop staff and they will guide you through the hire
process making sure that the correct fit and sizes are allocated.
Tips on hiring Skis and boots and snowboard and
Wear one pair of ski socks when you go for
fitting Start with the same size boot as you would take at home Fit should be
snug allowing toes to wiggle and heel to left a little of the back Fasten all
buckles and then bend at the knee. Different makes of boots have different
designs so don’t be afraid to try on several pairs till you get the right fit.
Todays carving skis are shorter then the older
style skis. Shop technicians will asses you based on your level . A beginner
would have skis that are between chin and eye level.
This is the part that hold the boot onto the ski.
Shop technicians will ask your level and weight and set your binding according
to this. Please be honest about your level and your weight. Providing incorrect
information could lead to an accident and injury on the slopes
These are comfy padded boots and should be the
same size as you take in shoe size back home. Try this to start with and try and
large size if this is too tight.
In snowboarding you are either a goody or a
regular rider. This determines which is your lead foot on the board. If you
don’t know, tell the technicians that you are a beginner and they will help
decide which ride style suits you.
Where can I store my
Most of our hotels and apartments have secure
storage within them. There is also storage in the main lift stations in each
resort. It is your responsibility to find secure storage. It is not permitted to
take your equipment into your hotel room or apartment.
How do I find out about ski
and board school meeting points and start times
As these can change from week to week, we will
tell you on arrival where and when to meet for school. Usually, group lessons
start on Monday morning at 1000 in the Grandvalira area and 1130 in Vallnord. We
will be able to confirm this in the week prior to your travel or on arrival.
Can I contact someone in the
resort when I arrive
Yes, unlike other web companies, we are based in
the destination and have staff available 24/7 to assist with any questions or
queries. You will have all our contact numbers for when you arrive. In addition,
our team will make a courtesy phone call or visit to you once you have arrived.
What will the snow
conditions be like?
Snow is usually plentiful in our resorts. Andorra
has an excellent snow record and almost 50% coverage with snow cannons meaning
that conditions should be good all season round.
In the event of poor snow conditions, we advise
that you have adequate holiday insurance cover which extends to this.
Most snow guarantee policies are not activated
unless more than 80% of the resort is closed. This is very rare.
Will lessons or skiing be
affected on Christmas Day and New Years day
No, the lifts and schools operate every day of
the season from 1st December until 18th April.
What happens of the weather
is really bad and we cannot ski/board
In the event of high winds, heavy snow and poor
visibility, the mountain may close. If this occurs whilst you are there, the
station will issue a letter stating the reason for the closure which will allow
you to claim on your holiday insurance providing your insurance covers piste
closure. If you lessons have been affected by this closure, the resort will do
their best to re arrange the lessons for a later day in the week. If this is not
possible then a letter will be issued for you to claim back on your holiday
